A NEW police chief inspector will discuss a change in the way policing is handled.

Ch Insp Beth Pirie will take up the post at East Hampshire in the new year.

She will visit community forums to discuss plans for a new way of handling policing issues around the district and structural changes coming in next year. In her new role Ch Insp Pirie will have the power to commission additional services such as CID.

A chief inspector is now allocated to every district and borough throughout Hampshire.

The boundaries will now coincide with those of East Hampshire District Council in a bid to give a better understanding of local issues.

From April, the district will be split into three areas, – Butser, including the southern parishes, Horndean and Rowlands Castle and the Petersfield area, Longmoor and Alton.

The forums will also include the council’s budget and spending plans for 2015.

The Community Forum for Horndean, Clanfield and Rowlands Castle is at St John’s Church Centre, Redhill Road, Rowland’s Castle, on January 13, at 6.30pm.
