OFFICERS investigating a hit-and-run are appealing for a woman who called police with vital information to get back in touch.

The woman called Hampshire Police after two women were struck by a car in Stoke Road, Gosport, last Saturday.

She gave information to an operator in the force control room before hanging up.

Police believe she may be able to help further with their enquiries.

Sergeant Andy Lynch said: ‘I’d appeal for this woman to get back in touch as soon as possible as I believe she can help us further.’

One of the women, a 20-year-old, from Fareham, suffered what were said to be life-threatening injuries.

The other, a 19-year-old from Gosport, suffered serious injuries.

One of the women is still in intensive care at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

The driver of the small, dark hatchback failed to stop and drove off down Spring Garden Lane.

A 21-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were arrested and bailed until October 5.

Police say the woman who called with information rang at 9.45am on Thursday. Call police on 0845 045 4545.
