POLICE are treating a fire at a Chinese takeaway as arson.

Firefighters were called to Jasmine House, in Station Road, Bognor, at 4.15am yesterday to reports of smoke coming from the building.

When they arrived the fire had taken hold of the restaurant on the ground floor and was spreading to the first floor.

Firefighters managed to get the fire under control by 5.15am but it took until after 8am to put it out completely.

A 27-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. Call Sussex Police on 101.
