SEVEN people have been arrested at the beginning of a crackdown on drink-driving by Sussex Police.

Those charged include Jessica Haigh, 21, of Hill Road, Fareham, who was arrested on the A259 in Bognor Regis after her vehicle was stopped by police at 4.15am on Sunday.

She was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on January 14.

Appearing in the same court on the same day will be Susan Turner, 51, of Pryors Lane, Bognor Regis, who was arrested at 3.05am on Sunday by officers at a police spot check in Sefter Road in the town. She was charged with failing to provide a specimen.

Chief Inspector Natalie Moloney said: ‘It is sad that so many people ignored the warnings that we would be looking for drink-drivers and have been charged with offences within hours of the start of the campaign.

‘The arrests and the naming of those charged with offences will continue across the county throughout the month.’
