A MAN has admitted assaulting a woman on New Year’s Day.

James Eagers, 30, of Palmyra Road, Gosport, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court yesterday. He was charged with actual bodily harm. His defence argued the attack was a result of his addiction to cannabis, which caused psychosis, and has led him to be sectioned in St James’ Hospital.

Eagers will reappear on Friday, August 16 for sentencing. He was released on unconditional bail.
