Attempted burglaries prompt police presence in Old Portsmouth

POLICE officers have been carrying out increased patrols following reports of attempted burglaries.

Tool marks have been spotted on 10 properties in Old Portsmouth between February 20 and 23 prompting the extra police presence.

Reports include 10 properties in Chatham Drive and two in Woodville Drive.

Neighbourhood policing officers have carried out house-to-house enquiries. Window alarms have also been given out and a CCTV van has been parked in the area.

Advice from police on keeping houses safe includes keeping doors locked, installing a burglar alarm, keeping valuables out of sight of windows and trimming hedges to remove hiding places.
