PEOPLE in Gosport are being warned to keep all doors locked and secure after suspicious behaviour in the area.

Police are appealing for information after reports of attempted burglaries at homes in Brockhurst Road.

Last Wednesday, a 22-year-old woman was in her kitchen when she heard the back door handle being opened between 12.20am and 12.35am.

She called out thinking it was her partner returning home, but it wasn’t. The woman reported it to the police who are treating it as an attempted burglary.

Investigating officer PC Tara Magnus said: ‘This is the second similar report received from a resident in Brockhurst Road where entry has been gained or attempted through a closed but unlocked back door.

‘Please ensure that if you have rear access to your premises, you keep all the doors locked and secure even if you are within the property. Do you live in the area and have you seen anyone acting suspiciously particularly around the rear alleyways?

‘Please be vigilant and report anyone immediately who is seen to be acting in a suspicious manner.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call PC Magnus at Fareham police station by phoning 101.
