A TRIAL date has been set for a man believed to have been involved in an attempted bank robbery on Friday.

Samuel Graham Stokes, aged 25, of Mafeking Road, Southsea, was charged on Saturday with attempting to rob the Halifax bank in Palmerston Road, Southsea and possessing a BB gun, which is an imitation firearm.

He appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning, and has been remanded in custody pending the start of a trial at Portsmouth Crown Court on May 24.
