POLICE believe a driver who collided with a suspected would-be burglar could hold the key to an attempted break-in.

At around 3.15pm on Saturday a glass panel next to the front door of a house in Park Lane, Bedhampton, was smashed. It alerted the owner of the property, a woman in her 80s, who disturbed the burglar.

Two men were spotted in the area at the same time, on mountain bikes.

They wore black woolly hats, dark jackets and jeans.

As they made off, one the men collided with a new-looking grey car.

Investigating officer, PC Aaron Sutton said: ‘Were you the driver of a grey car travelling south along Park Lane on Saturday, who was involved in the collision with the man on a mountain bike?

‘If so please can you contact me as you may have vital information that could help us identify these suspects.’
