A BIKE worth £4,000 was stolen when a thief removed the front wheel.

It happened on Thursday between 4.10pm and 4.20pm outside the front office of Premier Marinas, off Mumby Road, in Gosport.

The bike is a Specialized Enduro mountain bike and has a black frame.

The frame was removed using the quick release function, leaving behind the front wheel, the padlock and chain.

It comes after three bikes were stolen in Gosport on Wednesday, according to a tweet from the town’s police.

The message said: ‘Three bikes stolen (on Wednesday) in Gosport.

‘All left unlocked in rear gardens.’

Officers have now tracked down a rental white van connected with the theft on Thursday.
