THE actor who played PC Tony Stamp in long-running TV show The Bill will be on hand to judge a police fancy dress competition.

Police in Portsmouth are hold a family event at Gunwharf Quays demonstrating how the force has worked in the past.

Policing through the ages takes place on Saturday, October 1 between 11am and 4pm. As well as modern police vehicles and exhibits, visitors will also be able to step back in time and see how policing has changed over the years.

Exhibits include over 15 vintage police vehicles.

There’s also a ‘police related’ fancy dress competition on the day.

There will be prizes for the best dressed which will be judged by actor Graham Cole, who played PC Tony Stamp in the ITV1 drama.

Event organiser PC Mark Walsh said: ‘We really hope all sections of our communities attend and enjoy the event. There will also be some education exhibitions and crime prevention advice on offer including cycle marking, firearms and knife education.’
