A WARNING has been issued by police after 39 boats were targeted in a spate of thefts.

Boats were stolen or broken into at Portchester, Fareham Creek, Hardway, Haslar Marina, and at Swanwick.

The News previously reported sailors fears after boats were targeted at Portchester Sailing Club last month.

Thieve struck between July 25 and October 31, with small boats used to access large boats. Radios were taken.

Chief Inspector Sharon Woolrich said: ‘We take marine theft very seriously.’
