DETECTIVES are investigating after an elderly woman was hurt in a struggle with a burglar.
The 80-year-old woman received wrist and knee injuries in a struggle with the burglar as he was leaving her home in Froddington Road, Fratton, at around 6pm on Christmas Day.
She was with her husband, son-in-law and his mother, returning from a day out, when they noticed someone inside their home.
Jewellery and around £100 in cash was reported stolen.
The woman was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, where she was treated for her injuries.
Police have thanked the family for their co-operation and assistance with their investigation so far.
A 17-year-old boy from Portsmouth was arrested on Boxing Day on suspicion of assault and burglary.
He was questioned and bailed until January 9, pending further enquiries.
