POLICE are hunting a burglar who broke into a home as the householders slept upstairs.

The raid happened overnight last Saturday in Brough Road, Petersfield.

The thief got in through a back door and stole a wallet and handbag which contained personal items, cash and credit cards.

PC Peter Gott, who is investigating said: ‘We are following up a number of lines of inquiry but would like to hear from anyone who may have information about the burglary.

‘Have you seen any of the property discarded in the area? Or did you hear something during that night? We’d also like to remind residents to make sure their property is secure at night-time.

‘Please lock your windows and doors – and don’t forget to remove car or house keys from being on view.’
