A DRUG addict who stole a set of medals has been ordered to go to rehab.

Luke Bingle broke into Sabre Sales in Castle Road, Southsea – a military collectibles shop – and stole 10 medals worth £100 to sell for money for drugs.

Bingle, 20, was due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court in May, following the burglary in April, but he didn’t turn up.

When Bingle, of Kingston Road, Buckland, Portsmouth, was eventually brought before magistrates he pleaded guilty to burglary and failing to attend court.

He also admitted a separate offence after he stole £40 worth of chicken breasts from the Co-op in Sultan Road, Buckland, in May.

The magistrates ordered him to undergo nine months of drug rehabilitation.
