BURGLARS broke into a house when the owners were sleeping – and used a laundry basket to load up their possessions.

The thief got in to the property in Norton Road, Southwick, through an unlocked door.

Among the haul was a laptop, silver Armani watch, ballet figurines, jewellery and iPod Touch.

Police believe the burglar used a laundry basket to carry the items out of the house between 5.20am and 5.50am on September 19.

They have only just released details.

PC Craig Robinson said: ‘The offender or offenders entered through an unlocked door while some of the residents were asleep upstairs, and took a number of items.

‘Some of the stolen items were recovered in a nearby garden but I would still appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious to contact me.’

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Robinson at North Walls police station in Winchester on 101.
