DETECTIVES are hunting two men who broke into a flat and sprayed acid into a woman’s face.

The victim had tried to stop the masked robbers ransacking her home when they threw the weak acid solution at her. Fortunately she was not injured.

The terrifying attack happened at 8.15pm on September 29, at a flat in Station Road, Petersfield, but police have only just released the details.

Det Sgt Ewan Gardner of Alton CID said: ‘This was a terrifying ordeal for the woman, who believes she was specifically targeted. Thankfully she was not injured

‘Despite local enquiries we have been unable to identify these men, but we’re sure someone in the local community knows who they are.’

He added: ‘I would like to reassure the public that we believe this was an isolated incident.’

Both men were white, aged between 20 and 30 and wore dark clothes. One was 6ft 3in, medium build and had a green scarf over his face. The other was 5ft 9in, stocky and wore a black balaclava.
