POLICE have launched an appeal into a burglary in Lee-on-the-Solent.

A middle-aged man and his wife left their home in Newton Place for work early last Wednesday.

When he returned at 9.30pm, the man discovered the house had been searched. It is not yet clear whether any items were stolen.

Det Con Dermot McBride said: ‘We’re appealing for anyone who may have been in this area of Lee-on-the-Solent last Wednesday. Did you hear or see anything untoward? Did you see any unfamiliar vehicles in this quiet road?

‘A ladder was left behind – have you noticed one missing from your garden or shed?

‘If you were in the area between 9am and 9.30pm last Wednesday and saw anyone acting suspiciously, please contact me at Fareham Police Station with any information.’
