Businessman due in court over death of Gosport man in boat crash

A businessman is due in court today charged with the manslaughter of a Gosport man who died in a boating incident.

Ryan McKinlay, 36, a father-of-one, died when the rigid inflatable boat (Rib) he was a passenger in was in a collision with a larger motorboat in Osborne Bay off the Isle of Wight on June 19, 2015.

Aaron Brown, 34, from Curdridge, is charged with manslaughter and will face a three-week trial at Winchester Crown Court.

A second defendant, Paul Carey, faces a charge of being the person responsible for the conduct of a vessel which contravened Merchant Shipping regulations.

Mr McKinlay’s widow Francesca told The News after his death: ‘Ryan was an amazing person and his son Sonny adored him. He adored him back and we can’t believe he’s gone.

‘We are devastated and he has left a huge void in all our lives.’
