MORE than 20 cannabis plants have been seized after police raided a home following a tip-off.

Four officers searched a flat at Cottage Grove in Somers Town, Portsmouth yesterday and arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of possessing cannabis.

They took action in response to information about the supply of illegal drugs in the community.

The suspect remained in police custody last night for questioning.

The cannabis plants, pictured, were taken from the home along with specialist growing equipment.

Sergeant Rob Sutton, of the Portsmouth Safer Neighbourhoods team, said: ‘This is the second cannabis factory we have discovered in two weeks in the Somers Town area.

‘We will continue to disrupt and arrest those suspected of being involved in the drugs supply activity in Somers Town, and we thank the community for their support in helping us with the information to act upon.’

Anyone with information about illegal drugs affecting the community is asked to contact police by phoning 101.

Information can be given anonymously by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
