She claims that two men knocked on her door in Northern Parade, Hilsea, stating that they needed to check her water supply.

After the men left, the elderly victim noticed that her pension book and around £200 cash was missing.

A similar call was received less than an hour later, with reports of a handbag being stolen by two men at an address in Salterns Avenue, Baffins.

Anyone with information in regards to either of the incidents has been asked to contact police on 101, quoting Operation Liberal.

As reported in The News, people in Fareham are being warned not to buy items from cold callers as known scam artists are targeting houses selling photocopied artwork.
