The body of the 11-month-old cat, Lady, was found on a strip of grass a short walk from her home in Cunningham Close, with a dog walker making the grisly discovery on Tuesday, July 6.
The cat’s owner, Carly Watson, said she was ‘devastated’ when she was told by a neighbour that Lady had been found dead, with her pet missing from her garden for just one night.

‘I am absolutely devastated.
‘I never thought something like this would happen to me – it makes you realise it can happen to anyone.’
The vet who examined Lady’s remains reported that her injuries were most likely caused by a person, according to Carly.
She said: ‘They did x-rays and scans – the vet picked up that she had been kicked in the stomach.

The incident has been reported to the police, as well as the South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty, which has recorded and investigated suspicious cat killings across the country since 2014.
Volunteer Tony Jenkins said: ‘Foxes very, very rarely attack cats because they swipe at them, and if the cat was attacked by a fox it would be a bloody mess.
‘Sometimes the claws can be broken, there can be the signs of a scuffle – there was none of that.’

She said: ‘My children are scared to go in the garden, and I cannot leave my house.
‘I have had to have a friend come and stay with us.
‘We are traumatised.’
In May, a cat in Portchester was found dead with its tail ripped off, with the police investigating the death.
