A man is wanted by police after a teenager suffered a fractured skull in an assault.

The 18-year-old victim was attacked in Edinburgh Road, Portsmouth, as people were leaving the Liquid nightclub.

He fell over when assaulted and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, where he was treated for a fractured skull, a minor bleed on the brain and concussion.

Police issued a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after the assault, which happened at approximately 3.15am on Saturday, March 21.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: ‘The 18-year-old man from Waterlooville fell over during the assault, hitting his head on the road; as a result he was unconscious for several minutes. He was treated at Queen Alexandra hospital for a fractured skull, minor bleed on the brain and concussion and is now recovering at home.’

Detective Constable Steve Bourne said: “This area would have been very busy at this time of night as a number of people were leaving nearby club Liquid.

“We would appeal to anyone who may have seen what happened or has any information which might help us identify the person responsible to contact us direct or anonymously via Crimestoppers.”

Anyone with information should contact DC Bourne in the Eastern Investigation Team at Fratton police station on 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
