Detectives are hunting for a suspect who threatened a member of staff with a handgun at the Grande Wine Store in Palmyra Road, Gosport.

It happened shortly after 9.30pm on March 27.

The 25-year-old staff member was working alone at the time of the terrifying raid.

Investigating Officer DC Julie Way said: ‘I’d like to thank those people who have contacted us since our original appeal was issued.

‘We are still not linking this to any other reports or incidents in the area. The premises were targeted at night when it was very wet and windy and not many people were out and about.

‘We are still trying to establish if the weapon seen was a genuine handgun or an imitation firearm. Thankfully no-one was injured in this incident.

‘I’d like to trace a man and a woman who used the store shortly beforehand and who may have seen what happened and anyone who may have found discarded clothing in the area.’

The robber took £340 in cash from the till but no-one was hurt, police said.

Manager Carla Frankland previously praised the swift actions of the shop assistant who opened the till and ran to the back of the shop and deadlocked the door. He watched the masked robber on CCTV take cash and leave.
