Police have released CCTV images of a man stealing an electric bicycle stolen outside of Eastney Swimming Baths.

The bike, which was left secured to bicycle rack, was taken sometime between 3.15pm and 3.55pm on May 31.

Its lock was broken off by the offender, who then rode off towards Henderson Road.

The ladies Electra Townie Balloon 8D is decribed as being brown with a brown saddle. It also has white tyres and at the time of theft also had a childs seat attached to the back. This bike was brand new and was bought for £700.

Police want to speak to a man seen taking it away. He was wearing white trainers, dark grey quarter length trousers and a grey tshirt.

Investigating Officer, PCSO Donna Needham said: ‘We are asking members of the public to help trace this man or anyone with details about his identity to make contact with the police.

‘Police would like to take this opportunity to advise bicycle users to purchase a good quality D Lock and secure bicycles to something immovable and keep any gaps between the lock and bike frame small.

‘We also recommend that you register your bike - you can do this online at with this website you can also register other items such as mobile phones and laptops etc and it only takes a few minutes. You can also make contact with your local beat team and arrange for your bicycle to get coded, you can either pop into your local Police Station or find out who your team are on’
