The court heard that Gallienne confessed to abuse of the second girl after being confronted by police about the first girl he abused.

An NSPCC spokeswoman said: ‘While Gallienne has rightly been given a lengthy jail term we must remember his victims have been handed a life sentence as his predatory behaviour will have a lasting impact on the rest of their lives.

‘It is vital that those who suffer abuse get the support they need to speak out and people who commit such vile acts are brought to justice.

‘Anyone worried about a child can contact our helpline free and in confidence on 0808 800 5000. Children can call Childline on 0800 1111.’
