BURGLARS have targeted a rugby club for the second time in a matter of months.

Crooks smashed their way through several doors at Chichester Rugby Club and got away with a small amount of cash which was locked away behind the bar.

The club, in Oaklands Park, was still dealing with the impact of a burglary in December when £1,500 was stolen.

The morning before the break-in several more locks had been fitted to improve security.

Keith Martin, chairman of the club, said: ‘We are just very disappointed as a club that with all the services we are providing for the locality we can be targeted for a reasonably small amount of money.

‘The members are really cheesed off about the whole thing.’

Police are appealing for information following the break-in, which happened at about 12.30am on Wednesday, February 15.

Forensic teams have been examining the scene for clues.

Anyone with information should call 101.
