THIEVES have stolen two gold leaf Chinese figurines from a retired serviceman in a burglary.

The thief entered the man’s ground-floor flat through an unlocked window at The Redan in Alverstoke, Gosport, between 10am and 5pm on Thursday, January 24.

The Singapore-style Chinese figures were of great sentimental value to the owner.

They are gun metal and covered in gold leaf.

One marks the Year of the Rat, with a rat on its back legs with gold coins at its feet.

Police say the other figurine shows a Chinese god standing upright, wearing a square hat and gold, red and black gown.

Police are looking for witnesses who saw anyone behaving suspiciously near Cessac House or Archer House on Thursday, or from anyone who has found or been offered the figurines. Call police on 101 if you can help.
