NO further action is to be taken by police against an Emsworth church rector accused of indecent assault dating back to the early 1990s.

The Rev Simon Sayers was suspended from his position at St James CoE Church in Emsworth and St Thomas a Beckett in Warblington following his arrest by the Metropolitan Police in January.

The allegation against the 55-year-old was of indecent assault dating back to the early 1990s in the Islington area.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed that there would be no further action taken after Rev Sayers was due to answer bail today.
