A MAN and woman have been arrested by police investigating a potential scam which saw companies in Portsmouth approached for sponsorship for the Olympic Games closing ceremony.

It is believed a company called RWB Project, Midlands, also approached dance school pupils in Northampton offering the chance to take part in the Olympic Games closing ceremony as part of the scam.

Officers visited three schools which had been signed up. Other schools have been made aware of the investigation.

The force launched an investigation after the Games organisers, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), contacted officers.

LOCOG has confirmed that RWB Projects, Midlands, has no connections to the Olympic or Paralympics Games.

A 35-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were arrested in Northampton and East London as part of an investigation into potential fraud yesterday. Anyone with information should contact Operation Podium at
