Armed with kit to monitor traffic speed, the Titchfield SpeedWatch caught 40 drivers speeding out of 189 in just an hour.

The group was joined last month by Suella Fernandes, Fareham MP, in St Margaret’s Lane, Titchfield.

The 40 speeding vehicles were doing more than 35mph in a 30mph residential area.

Ms Fernandes said: ‘The Community SpeedWatch team is making a real difference to Titchfield and Fareham.

‘I’d like to express my gratitude for their consistent and dedicated work to keep our roads safe.

‘Speed is a significant cause in a third of all road collisions and our Community SpeedWatch team are helping to prevent accidents and improve the quality of life for all residents.
