FRAUDSTERS are tricking people into buying puppies and then not delivering the animal.
Hampshire County Council’s trading standards department is warning that there has been a rise in the reports of pets, particularly puppies, put for sale on online auction websites.
But after the buyer pays for the dog, which is supposedly on sale as the owner is moving abroad, the animal is never delivered.
Instead the con artist asks for more cash to pay for courier charges, shipping fees or vet bills.
The trading standards team warns people to be wary of using money service bureaux, such as MoneyGram and Western Union.
