A Toyota Avensis hit a small wall in a car park at Southsea Esplanade in the early hours of yesterday morning.

It is believed the car then landed on an adjacent wall and hedgerow on the edge of the car park.

Police received a call about the crash at 2.45am on Monday.

Officers arrived at the scene shortly after, where they found the family-sized car on top of a wall and hedge.

It is understood that no other vehicle was involved in the collision.

Hampshire’s Roads Policing unit tweeted a photo of the car after it landed in the hedge, joking that it was ‘not the best place to park your car’.

A police statement said the male driver was unhurt but the female passenger suffered a minor injury.

Police are currently investigating the cause behind the crash, and how the car ended up on top of the wall and hedge on the edge.
