A DRUG addict caught with illegal drugs and an offensive weapon on him in public has been ordered to get help for his habit by the courts.
Matthew Kirkpatrick pleaded guilty to possessing a wooden table leg in Ham Lane, Gosport, on September 11.
He pleaded guilty to possessing class B drugs cannabis and mephedrone in Fareham on the same day.
Kirkpatrick also pleaded guilty to committing the crimes while he was subject to a six-month conditional discharge for other offences.
Kirkpatrick, of Hudson Close, Gosport, was ordered to pay £60 to a fund for victims of crime and £85 in court costs by Fareham magistrates.
The 20-year-old was ordered to have three months of treatment to have his drug dependency.
Kirkpatrick was also put under supervision for six months.
An order was made for the cannabis and mephedrone to be forfeited and destroyed under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
