n Nigel Maza, 52, of Gladys Avenue, North End, admitted theft of wine and a chicken worth £11.80 wrap from Co-op in Portsmouth.

He was detained in court as punishment but this was deemed served as he spent time in custody.

n Steven Mitchell, 47, of Cotton Road, Portsmouth, was found guilty of assault by beating against a woman on October 9 last year in Portsmouth.

Magistrates handed him a 12-month conditional discharge. He must pay £115 compensation, a £15 victim surcharge and £200 prosecution costs.

n Dean Iddenten, 26, of Gale Moor Avenue, Gosport, was jailed for 16 weeks.

He was caught driving while disqualified in Forton Road, Gosport, on May 1 and banned for 26 months.

Iddenten admitted driving without insurance on the same day.

He admitted breaching a suspended sentence for driving while disqualified in September.

n Troy Norris, 46, of Thornton Road, Gosport, admitted drink-driving on April 30 in Fareham Road, Gosport.

He was banned for 24 months and given a community order with 80 hours unpaid work.

Norris must pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.
