CPS welcome murder sentence for Portsmouth woman

The Crown Prosecution service has welcomed the sentence for Victoria Arthur who was sent to prison for 23 years for the murder of Nadine Burden.

Victoria Arthur, 44, was sentenced at Salisbury Crown Court following her knife attack on Ms Burden, 37, in her Toronto Road house on January 28 last year.

Arthur’s partner Julie Palmer, 54, of Westminster Place, Portsmouth, received a two-year sentence for assisting an offender.

Kerry Maylin Principal Crown Advocate for the Crown Prosecution Service Wessex, said: ‘This was a gruesome attack which cost Nadine Burden her life. Ms Burden owed Julie Palmer £100 and Victoria Arthur was obsessed by getting her money back.’
