Crackdown on bad behaviour in Portsmouth

A POLICE crackdown on bad behaviour has been launched in Somers Town and Southsea.

Officers now have the powers to order people to leave the area if police think they’re involved in, or likely to become involved in, anti-social behaviour.

The roads covered by the dispersal order are: St Paul’s Road, Winston Churchill Avenue, Greetham Street, Blackfriars Road, St Andrew’s Road, Elm Grove and Kings Road and all the roads within this area.

The dispersal order, made under Section 35 of the Antisocial Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, will be reviewed on Sunday.

A Hampshire police spokesman said: ‘Following complaints of antisocial behaviour in the Somerstown area, the Portsmouth South District Inspector, Phil Lamb, has authorised a further dispersal order under Section 35 of the Antisocial Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014.

‘This is in agreement with the local authority.’
