A MAN caught driving while disqualified has been ordered to stay in at night.

Ricky Searle pleaded guilty to committing the crime while driving a Toyota van in Milton Road, Cowplain, on March 20.

The 24-year-old also admitted driving the vehicle without insurance.

And he admitted to a separate charge of fleeing the Rising Sun pub in North Lane, Waterlooville, without paying for a meal and drinks on March 18.

Portsmouth magistrates gave Searle, from Eagle Avenue, Waterlooville, a community order stating that he must not leave his home between 7pm and 7am for six months.

The curfew will be monitored with an electronic tag.

And Searle was banned from getting behind the wheel for 12 months.

He was ordered to pay £24.60 compensation to the Rising Sun pub.

Searle pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to surrender to custody on April 13.

However magistrates decided to impose no separate penalty.
