Customers show support for Mick's Monster Burgers after car crashes into van

Customers at a popular Portsmouth burger van have been showing their support after a car crashed into the side of its vehicle.

Staff at Mick’s Monster Burgers were given a shock on Friday when a driver parked nearby lost control and smashed into the front of the van.

Mick Johnsey, who owns the van on Portsdown Hill, told The News that two customers and two members of staff suffered minor injuries as a result of the accident.

The van was closed for six hours while engineers returned the gas supply.

Speaking today, Mr Johnsey said he had received messages of support and comments from customers since the crash.

He said: ‘There were quite a few customers that thought we closed during the weekend. We probably had our quietest one of the year.

‘A few people have asked if anyone had any injuries. We’ve had one lady who has had to go to the doctors but we are hoping she will be back soon.’

The damage caused to the vehicle is thought to cost between £20,000 and £25,000, although Mr Johnsey is still waiting to hear back from insurers.

It is not thought the driver, who was driving a blue Vauxhall Vectra, was seriously injured.
