Cyclist seriously injured in Hayling Island crash

A CYCLIST remains in hospital today with serious head injuries after a crash with a motorbike.

The collision took place on Hayling Island last night and has prompted a police appeal for help.

The 59-year-old cyclist from Havant was riding his dark coloured Carrera Vengence on the southbound carriageway of Langstone Road when he crashed with a red Honda 125cc motorbike.

The impact threw both the riders from their bikes.

The cyclist suffered serious head injuries, Hampshire Constabularly said, and was rushed by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.

The 28-year-old motorcyclist, of Hayling Island, sustained a minor leg injury, officers added.

Police are now hunting for witnesses to help with their investigation.

PC Peter Sarginson said: ‘We would like to hear from anybody who may have witnessed this incident, or anyone who saw the motorcycle or pedal cycle near the collision area around 11pm on Friday.’
