A DEALER caught peddling heroin and crack cocaine to pay off a drug debt has been spared jail.

Mosope Ojo, 21, had 6.05g of crack and 8.33g of heroin on him as well as cannabis when he was caught in Southsea.

At Portsmouth Crown Court Ojo admitted two counts of possessing a class A drug with intent to supply and to possessing class B cannabis.

Judge Roger Hetherington, sentencing, said: ‘I accept, having heard your evidence, that you were dealing in drugs at the instruction and behest of others and on a two-fold purpose – partly to feed your own addiction as it was and also to reduce your drug debts.’

Ojo, whose address was given as Feltham prison in Middlesex, committed the crimes on August 30 last year. He received a two-year suspended sentence. He was put under supervision for a year and must complete a drug intervention programme.

Judge Hetherington added: ‘If you do fail either one of those requirements, supervision or the drug rehabilitation, or if you commit another offence punishable with imprisonment in the next two years you will serve those two years in addition to any other sentence.’
