TRIBUTES have been paid to a man whose body was discovered on a footpath close to a public school.

Police began an investigation after 26-year-old Christopher Allison was found dead on a path on Ramshill, Petersfield, early on Friday morning.

Mr Allison, of Station Road, was often seen around the town and was a familiar sight to commuters.

A local postwoman left a tribute close to the spot he was found. She covered a board in flowers where people could leave messages.

The postwoman, who identified herself only as Clare, said in a message: ‘I know life was a struggle but wherever you are now is a more peaceful place, take it easy.

‘I’m finding it hard to accept I will not see you again.

Mr Allison was discovered by a passer-by, believed to be an off-duty policeman, using the path next to Churcher’s College. The area was cordoned off for three hours.

A spokesman for Hampshire police said: ‘Although the cause of death isn’t clear and will have to be decided by a coroner there are no suspicious circumstances and we have discontinued the investigation.’
