POLICE have confirmed that an 87-year-old woman whose Havant home was burgled was attacked by the raider.

The pensioner was left with multiple injuries, including a fractured eye socket.

Police released a description of a man they are hunting following the attack on Friday.

As reported on Saturday, The woman was assaulted in her home in Lymbourn Road, Havant, when a man forced his way into the home.

The man was white, in his 30s, tall and of sturdy build and was wearing dark clothing.

Det Chief Insp Justin Norris said: ‘Please contact us if you were in the area at the time and heard or saw anything suspicious.

‘We are particularly interested in anyone fitting this description, and who returned home during the early hours of Friday morning.

‘We’d encourage people to be extra vigilant and to report anything suspicious to police immediately.’
