A DRINK-DRIVER who was more than twice the legal limit has been banned from the roads for a year.

Niven Clements was stopped by the police as he drove a BMW in Willis Road, Landport.

A breathalyser test revealed he had 75 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Clements, of Telephone Road, Southsea, was due to attend a hearing at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court last month but he didn’t show up.

The 20-year-old pleaded guilty to drink-driving and failing to attend court when he appeared before the magistrates.

He was fined £300 and told to pay £95 in costs.
