A DRINK driver was caught after he crashed his car while fiddling with his radio.

Russell Mitchell, 23, was arrested after he crashed into another car in Oving Road, Chichester, while twice the drink-drive limit on December 28.

The 23-year-old had drunk a bottle of wine that afternoon before getting behind the wheel.

Magistrates were told that he had been trying to adjust his radio when he crashed his Peugeot 307 into a parked Honda Jazz at 7.10pm.

Mitchell, of St Nicholas’ Road, Lavant, near Chichester, pleaded guilty to drink-driving and driving without insurance when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court. He was banned from driving for 20 months and fined £320 and told to pay a £32 victim surcharge plus £85 costs.
