A MAN has been jailed for 20 weeks after being caught behind the wheel of a vehicle while banned from driving.

Daniel Wayne Williams, of Deerhurst Crescent, Paulsgrove, Portsmouth, pleaded guilty to the offence at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

On July 26, the 25-year-old drove a Ford Transit van in Stubbington Avenue, Portsmouth.

Williams had been seven weeks into a previous driving ban after he had been caught drink-driving.

Magistrates sentenced Williams to 20 weeks’ imprisonment and he was given six points on his driver’s licence. He was not ordered to pay a fine.

During the same hearing Williams also pleaded guilty to one count of driving a vehicle without insurance.

No separate sentence was given for the offence.
