DRINK-driver Nicholas Samuel has been banned from the roads.

The 48-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Renault Laguna in Wharf Road, Portsmouth, after drinking too much on April 10.

A test revealed his breath contained 54 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres. The legal limit is 35mg.

Samuel, from School View, Bottesford, Nottingham, was fined £400 by Fareham magistrates. He was also ordered to pay £200 in court costs and £15 into a fund for victims of crime.

Samuel was banned from driving for 12 months.

The ban could be reduced by three months if he pays to complete a government-approved driving course by January 13 2012
