Drug dealer who fell after jumping out of a window trying to escape police in Portsmouth jailed

A drug dealer who tried to escape police by jumping out of a window in Portsmouth has been jailed. 

Mark Maloney, 26, of Gaddesden Grove, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, was in a property on Victoria Road North, Southsea, when drugs officers arrived at about 1.30pm on July 16.

He jumped out of the window and climbed over the balcony and fell three floors to the ground in an attempt to escape.

Maloney didn’t sustain any serious injuries in the fall. 

He has been jailed for three and a half years for possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

Detective Nick Heelan said: ‘Our Drugs Related Harm officers work proactively to target county lines drug dealers who come to Portsmouth with the aim of selling drugs.

‘This sentence is another good result for Portsmouth and shows how my officers continue to disrupt this type of activity in the city.

‘If you have information about drug dealing call 101 or in an emergency, or if a crime is in progress, call 999.'
