Hampshire police seized drugs worth £36,000 at this year’s Bestival.
Chief Constable Alex Marshall today told Hampshire Police Authority - which hold the purse strings for the force - that officers made 531 drugs searches during last weekend’s event on the Isle of Wight.
The value of drugs seized was a slight increase on last year, however 174 drug-related crimes were solved.
All told 47 thefts from persons were reported, down from 102 last year. Theft from tents were down from 184 to 127.
Mr Marshall said seven people reported assaults linked to the festival. However none were serious.
