POLICE have released this e-fit in a bid to trace a distraction burglar who targeted an 86-year-old woman.

The elderly victim was at her home in Locksway Road, Milton, Portsmouth, when a man called at her door.

He said he needed to get into her garden to put up scaffolding before carrying out work on her neighbour’s house.

The victim believes this first man let another man into her home while she was waiting near the back garden. After about 15 minutes she went back inside to find the door open and her purse, containing £30, had been stolen.

The burglary happened between 12.30pm and 1pm on June 8. Now police have released this e-fit of the main suspect.

Investigating officer Det Con Lee Parker said: ‘Whoever was responsible for this burglary cynically abused an elderly lady’s trust to get into her home and steal from her.

‘We’re continuing to appeal for anyone who saw suspicious behaviour in the area at the time, or who recognises the man.’

Anyone with information is asked to call Fratton CID on 101 or 0845 0454545.
